Anchored In Lilly

If you are any type of nautical fan you need to get into Banana Republic ASAP!  They have the most adorable nautical inspired line right now.  When I picked up this anchor shirt I literally could have purchased the entire store, however, I was a good shopper and only chose one item (my bank account was pleased).   I've been wearing this top around paired with my coral shorts but I wanted an option to dress it up, so why not pair it with my super vibrant Lilly skirt?!

Anchors + Lilly = BEST OUTFIT EVER.

If you haven't been able to tell yet I am an avid Lilly Pulitzer and anchor lover.  Everyday I wear something that has an anchor on it and I would wear Lilly everyday if it was feasible for my wallet.  Lilly is just so classic, bright, and preppy...it's perfection.  And I love that anchors symbolize hope, steadfastness, and strength.  Here is one of my favorite quotes about anchors symbolizing steadfastness..."We are steadfast in our vision of the pursuit of our new Dream."  This quote resonates with me so strongly because of my dream to open my own fashion boutique.  In itself, the quote gives me hope.

Enough about that! Go to Banana Republic and pick up your new summer nautical piece!!

Sunday Stroll

This past Sunday was spent relaxing by the pool and taking a nice afternoon stroll through downtown.  After a few busy weeks of travel, work, and recuperating, it was nice to finally take a day to relax and enjoy the fantastic summer weather.  It's already closing in on the end of July and I feel like there is so much I have yet to accomplish this summer (like sun tanning and taking a vacation!).

One thing I have accomplished is stumbling upon a new local boutique called Sofi Stella where I found this adorable chevron bow back dress.  I love buying from boutiques not only because I like supporting local businesses, but also because the fashion finds are fabulous.  Obviously I couldn't pass up this treasure because it has three of my favorite things - bows, chevron, and a pop of pink!  I added this pink bauble necklace (also from Sofi Stella) to dress it up a bit.  There is never such a thing as too much pink, however, I was feeling the need for extra color and added my mint flats for easy walking.  The dress is a perfect, lightweight shift for those hot summer days.

Summer Nights At Riverside Park

Summer in Ohio is so special and magical.  There is something about the hot, summer nights with the cicadas buzzing that always brings a smile to my face.  So many summer nights have been spent on Front Street overlooking this river.  Not only does Riverside Park play host to a panoramic view of the Maumee River, but it is also a historic home to two cannons from the U.S.S Constitution, as well as a memorial to veterans of WWII.

On the fashion side, one of my favorite prints (that I really do not have enough of) is chevron!  I love chevron tops, dresses, curtains, pillows, blankets...you name it!  To me its an updated twist to the classic stripes that I so love.   This particular blue one from Francesca's is so easy to wear because it can be casual like I did here, or you can tuck it into a pencil skirt for a fun, professional work outfit.  The blue obviously pairs perfectly with my favorite pink necklace.   Adding the pop of mint with my new Abby Flats from Banana are a perfect conclusion to this breezy summer outfit.

Promenade in Pastel

My absolute favorite color combination is pink and blue.  I will wear pink and blue together everyday, and it usually works out that way because my closet is filled with these two colors.  They compliment each other so well!  Adding a splash of pastel mint to this particular outfit is a perfect way to make it unique.  I am beginning to feel like a walking advertisement for Francesca's with all these posts, but they seriously have the cutest tops and dresses!  This shirt is so so comfy and the cut out back is a nice trendy surprise!

On a different note, I want to thank everyone for all the support you have given me over the past few months with building Au Flair and I appreciate all of you following this blog!  Be sure to like Au Flair's Facebook page!

Independence Day

Happy 4th of July!!!

Every year for the past thirty years my family and all our friends celebrate the Fourth of July at Historic Fort Meigs, where battles in the War of 1812 were fought.  We all bring food and have a picnic/potluck while we wait for the fireworks to start.  Fort Meigs is one of the coolest sites that Northwest Ohio has to offer.  There is so much history here to learn, and throughout the year the park offers re-enactments from different periods of history.  I normally do not post this many photos but with so many cool spots I had a difficult time picking and choosing so I included most of them!  Now you'll have a small tour of the park :)

In other news, I am so happy I found this dress at Francescas!  Seriously - they have the cutest dresses for summer.  I was looking for red, white, and blue and how perfect that this dress has all three colors and has stripes!  It had to be bought.  Paired with my Lindsay Phillips anchor flats I'm rocking the patriotism this year!

I hope you all have a splendid and magical Fourth of July!!
