Labor Day Happiness

Labor Day means the end of summer, the start of fall, and my birthday!  This summer has flown by in a whirl and like everyone else I feel like I didn't really enjoy it like I normally do.  However, I am extremely excited for autumn for so many reasons.  First, because I love EVERYTHING to do with fall - apples, the changing leaves, sweaters, hoodies, cool crisp days, apple cider, plaid, the list goes on and on.  Secondly, this fall marks the many of new beginnings for myself and my family.  I am very excited to announce that I will be starting a new job this month!! I'll be doing marketing, fundraising, and social media development for a local non-profit and I'm so incredibly excited!!

With summer coming to an end, I feel the need to wear as many of my summer outfits as possible.  Like many of you fashionistas and Lilly lovers, I stalked the Lilly sale (even when the site was down), and was able to snag these adorable checkered shorts.  Since they are patterned they can be somewhat difficult to match.  However, since I love pairing different prints and random colors I had no problem throwing on my favorite anchor shirt.  Also, notice the new KJP bracelet I have on!! My fabulous boyfriend, Rob, bought this for me for my birthday!! He always knows the most perfect gifts to buy me! :) I am one lucky birthday girl!!

It would be a crime not to walk down to the river with the weather so beautiful.  Even though I still come down here in the chillier months, there is a something special about the river during the summer.

As always, thank you so much for reading and for all the support!

Work To Weekend: Floral Blouse

 WORK

Blouses are so amazing because of their versatility.  This particular blouse from the Limited spring collection is such a fresh take on the navy button up because of the adorable floral detail.  It's conservative yet fun and perfect paired with a pencil skirt or under a suit.  If you are a brave fashionista jazz up the blouse even more with a chunky, trendy necklace; or keep it simple with some pearls or sterling silver pieces.  Either way, you'll be fashion forward AND professional at the office!

WEEKEND

As the weather begins to cool down, we all are looking for ways to transition our summer pieces into fall.  The sheerness and light weight fabric of the blouse makes it easy to throw on a v-neck sweater for when it starts to get chilly.    Pair the top with some bright red chinos from J.Crew and you are comfortable and put together for running around doing errands on the weekend.

P.S. How awesomely perfect are these flats from Coach?? LOVE the bow detail!

Thanks for reading! Let me know how you are all liking the "Work To Weekend" series! :)

Work To Weekend: Lilly Dress

WORKING WITH LILLY
To this day this pink and green dress is my favorite Lilly piece I own.  Probably because it was my very first Lilly!! The colors are fabulous and the fit is perfect.  Most people may be hesitant to wear this to work because of the extraordinarily bright color combination, especially if you work in a conservative environment.  Adding a neutral cardigan, belt, and a classy necklace makes it work appropriate.  Throw on a pair of perfect pumps and you are ready to rule the office in style.

WEEKEND WITH LILLY

I do believe this is Kala's first debut on Au Flair.  Isn't she perfect?!?

One of the many things I love so much about this particular dress is how simple it is to transition from dressy to casual.  It's comfortable and appropriate to wear to work, and yet it's easy to changeover to a casual look for all those summer BBQ's by throwing on a pair of cute flats and a classic monogram necklace.  You can enjoy all the yummy food and refreshing drinks without fussing with your outfit.

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to read about Au Flair Fashion!  Be sure to tell all your friends to "like" us on Facebook!

Fashioned in Anchors

I've been walking down to this monument for as long as I can remember and I just recently noticed the giant anchor on the side of the monument.  You can imagine my excitement, especially since my outfit was decked out in anchors from my shirt, to my belt, to my Kiel James Patrick bracelet.  I don't remember the last day where I was not wearing at least one anchor.  It's just one of those things that I have to have near me everyday.

I recently found these red chino shorts on sale at J.Crew and was itching to pair them with my striped anchor shirt (also from J.Crew - C'mon now I did attend J.Crew U).   Although I consider myself patriotic and love me some red, white, and blue, I decided to add some turquoise and mint to freshen the look up a bit.  My blush bag was the perfect neutral to even out all the different colors.  It makes me happy to feel so nautical down by the city's boat club.  Too bad I couldn't hang out here everyday!

As always, thanks for reading! I love and appreciate feedback and comments!
