Fashioned in Anchors

I've been walking down to this monument for as long as I can remember and I just recently noticed the giant anchor on the side of the monument.  You can imagine my excitement, especially since my outfit was decked out in anchors from my shirt, to my belt, to my Kiel James Patrick bracelet.  I don't remember the last day where I was not wearing at least one anchor.  It's just one of those things that I have to have near me everyday.

I recently found these red chino shorts on sale at J.Crew and was itching to pair them with my striped anchor shirt (also from J.Crew - C'mon now I did attend J.Crew U).   Although I consider myself patriotic and love me some red, white, and blue, I decided to add some turquoise and mint to freshen the look up a bit.  My blush bag was the perfect neutral to even out all the different colors.  It makes me happy to feel so nautical down by the city's boat club.  Too bad I couldn't hang out here everyday!

As always, thanks for reading! I love and appreciate feedback and comments!

Crooked Lake

Sorry for the delay in posts! It has been an insane week but it's finally over and I was able to relax and enjoy a short vacation!

The start of August sadly means summer is coming to an end.  My family rented a house on Crooked Lake near Angola, IN this past weekend as a last minute getaway before my family of teachers start back to school and others head off to European countries.  Twelve people sleeping in one house means lots of fun, lots of food and drinks, and lots of games! Even though it's August the temperature did not warm up past 75 degrees so unfortunately it was a little chilly on the water.

Two of my favorite colors to wear together this summer have been bright pink and mint.  They complement each other so perfectly.  This mint top from Express pulls out all the subtle colors that make up the stripes in my favorite shorts from LOFT.  And obviously every outfit needs a statement piece and this bauble necklace from Sofi Stella Boutique is a fun addition to polish off the look.

This champagne clutch from Coach is amazing.  Seriously not only is it gorgeous but it goes well with almost any color and style, AND you can wear it dressy or casual.  The best part...the inside has six card slots and can fit a phone, some cosmetics, keys, and sunglasses.  Perfect addition to any wardrobe.

Anchored In Lilly

If you are any type of nautical fan you need to get into Banana Republic ASAP!  They have the most adorable nautical inspired line right now.  When I picked up this anchor shirt I literally could have purchased the entire store, however, I was a good shopper and only chose one item (my bank account was pleased).   I've been wearing this top around paired with my coral shorts but I wanted an option to dress it up, so why not pair it with my super vibrant Lilly skirt?!

Anchors + Lilly = BEST OUTFIT EVER.

If you haven't been able to tell yet I am an avid Lilly Pulitzer and anchor lover.  Everyday I wear something that has an anchor on it and I would wear Lilly everyday if it was feasible for my wallet.  Lilly is just so classic, bright, and preppy...it's perfection.  And I love that anchors symbolize hope, steadfastness, and strength.  Here is one of my favorite quotes about anchors symbolizing steadfastness..."We are steadfast in our vision of the pursuit of our new Dream."  This quote resonates with me so strongly because of my dream to open my own fashion boutique.  In itself, the quote gives me hope.

Enough about that! Go to Banana Republic and pick up your new summer nautical piece!!

And don't forget to "like" Au Flair on Facebook!

Sunday Stroll

This past Sunday was spent relaxing by the pool and taking a nice afternoon stroll through downtown.  After a few busy weeks of travel, work, and recuperating, it was nice to finally take a day to relax and enjoy the fantastic summer weather.  It's already closing in on the end of July and I feel like there is so much I have yet to accomplish this summer (like sun tanning and taking a vacation!).

One thing I have accomplished is stumbling upon a new local boutique called Sofi Stella where I found this adorable chevron bow back dress.  I love buying from boutiques not only because I like supporting local businesses, but also because the fashion finds are fabulous.  Obviously I couldn't pass up this treasure because it has three of my favorite things - bows, chevron, and a pop of pink!  I added this pink bauble necklace (also from Sofi Stella) to dress it up a bit.  There is never such a thing as too much pink, however, I was feeling the need for extra color and added my mint flats for easy walking.  The dress is a perfect, lightweight shift for those hot summer days.
